Maybe this Reebok deal isn’t such a bad thing after all.
If you didn’t already know, the traditional UFC walkout shirt as we know it will be no more from UFC 189 onwards.
Under the terms of the UFC’s deal with Reebok, fighters will be forced to wear only Reebok apparel at every event during fight week, which includes their walkout to the Octagon.
We’ve already listed our top 15 walkout t-shirts in the promotion’s history, but now we present to you the 15 that made us want to projectile vomit with disgust after a single glance.
15. Matt Riddle – UFC 143
Inspired by one of those Texaco Children’s Art Competition entries they feature on the advert to show that anyone can enter, regardless of talent.
14. Duane Ludwig – UFC 146
It’s like Ludwig asked if he could have the clothing equivalent of a hangover shite, and Xtreme Couture answered with a resounding “yes”.
13. Frank Mir – UFC 119
Look at that vacant look on the two-time heavyweight champion. Even he knows he’s not able to pull this off.
12. TJ Dillashaw – UFC 177
Just one more, TJ? I’m fairly certain Joe Soto won’t be enough. You’ll probably have to fight Renan Barao again… and Raphael Assuncao… and the rest of the bantamweight division.
11. Vitor Belfort – UFC Fight Night 32
You’re about to kick an MMA legend’s head into orbit, you shouldn’t be dressed like you’re taking part in the final stage of the G’iro d’Italia.
10. Lyoto Machida – UFC 175
It looks more like gym gear, than “going to war” attire.
9. BJ Penn – UFC 123
Who knows? Maybe it worked. Perhaps BJ Penn managed to blag his way into a few NASCAR events by disguising himself as one of the stock cars.
8. Anthony Njokuani – UFC 141
The illegitimate child of a death metal band t-shirt and a parakeet.
7. Bobby Green – UFC on Fox 12
Blinding your opponent with your outfit before the fight is a severely underused tactic in MMA.
6. Ryan Bader – UFC 119
The difference between this shirt and War and Peace is that some people have actually managed to read all of Leo Tolstoy’s classic in one sitting.
5. Lyoto Machida – UFC 104
Who ordered the puke shirt?
4. Cain Velasquez – UFC 104
The heavyweight champ had a lot of contenders for this list, but the one he donned at UFC 104 is hands down the gaudiest.
3. Rich Franklin – UFC 93
There’s a good reason why you don’t see a lot of brown and pink t-shirts these days.
2. Demetrious Johnson – UFC 186
Screw you, Tommy! Donald Cerrone is the real Bud Light champ.
1. James Toney – UFC 118
If you have a photo of yourself emblazoned on the front of your walkout shirt, you deserve to be knocked out by a 47-year-old man.
