We really wouldn’t like to experience that famous left hand off Conor McGregor.
Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes and Diego Brandao will probably attest to that too after feeling the full force of the Irishman’s power shot.
Even McGregor’s striking coach was shocked by how powerful the 27-year-old was when he first stepped into the gym as a newcomer.
But there’s one man who wasn’t too impressed with the punching power The Notorious was packing.
That man was The Mountain from Game of Thrones – well, Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, the 28-stone Icelandic strongman who famously had a knock about with McGregor before his fight with Aldo.
McGregor famously said ‘He’s 6ft 9in, 400lbs and I still folded him up’ about the sparring session the pair had at SBG.
But now Bjornsson has come out in GQ magazine and spoken about what it was like taking punches from the featherweight champ.
The exchange went down like this….
GQ: You know, Conor McGregor is in this package, too. I saw you guys had a little sparring session. He landed a few punches.
Mountain: He was trying to punch me. I didn’t feel anything (laughs).
GQ: Who do you think won the fight?
Mountain: He believes he won it. He does not know that I was taking it easy on him because he has a fight and I didn’t want to break him before the fight. He’s worked too much, so I didn’t want to break him.
We genuinely would like to see these two animals going at it for real. Just like in the good old days of the UFC.
