Facing Demian Maia in his next bout, one would imagine that Gunnar Nelson is going to end up on the mat at some stage.

But the Icelandic welterweight isn't going to make it easy on the former BJJ world champion. Nelson's balance looked better than ever as he forced off the attempted takedowns of Conor McGregor in training at SBG this week. https://instagram.com/p/98vDzGrzsW/ He tried a trip, he tried a single leg but McGregor had to resort to pulling half-guard to get his teammate to the mat. We realise that Maia is an awful lot bigger and slicker on the ground than The Notorious but, still, Nelson is looking very impressive.
