WATCH: Cornerman’s racist comment mars spectacular debut at UFC 202

Disgusting comment

Mike Perry’s only been in the UFC for a short time, but dear lord it’s been eventful.

The 24-year-old was signed to the UFC after tearing up the regional scene with seven straight wins coming by way of knockout. His pristine 7-0 record was enough to get him a fight in the big leagues on perhaps the biggest card of the year against seasoned welterweight Hyun Gyu Lim.

Although his exciting style should have made him an instant fan favourite, he quickly turned heel with his act of disrespect towards the Lim at the UFC 202 weigh-ins.

Perry pissed off a lot of fans by doing a lame handshake fake-out to his opponent before screaming his head off like a maniac.

Remarkably, it looked like he had won back some of those lost fans that he lost after the weigh-ins with his stunning debut. He upset the odds by finding home with his heavy hands and rendering Lim unconscious inside the opening stanza.

As impressive as that debut was, the knockout isn’t the main story coming out of the fight.

Perry’s brilliant performance has been overshadowed after a comment one of his cornermen made about the Korean fighter before the fight started sweeping the internet.

You can clearly hear his cornerman say the following in the video embedded below.

“He’s got nothing for you, Mike. He can’t even open his motherfuckin’ eyes, boy.”
