“The sky is the limit. Who knows what’s around the corner? I could be in the UFC and you never know where it could end.”
Tonight, at UFC 196, Conor McGregor will fight at a heavier weight level than the division he is currently champion of.
The Notorious has previous where this is concerned.
On the final night of 2012, the Cage Warriors featherweight champion KO’ed Ivan Buchinger to claim the promotions’ lightweight strap.
Within 31 days, the Dubliner was making his UFC debut against Marcus Brimmage.
Ahead of McGregor’s welterweight fight against Nate Diaz, Cage Warriors have released highlights of the fight and some previously unseen footage of the Dubliner as he looked ahead to creating history and a future in the UFC.
Interestingly, McGregor also jokes about a two weight step-up to take on Dan Hardy. “I’ll go up to welterweight and knock him out so,” he remarks.
Check out the full video and, if you have not seen it before, the crunching knock-out blow [from 2:35] that won him a second Cage Warriors belt.
