WATCH: Behind the scenes footage of Conor McGregor becoming a Call of Duty character

From the fight game to the game... eh, game

“He should have killed me when he had the chance.” *Respawns*

Its early conception was written off as brutal form of ‘human-cockfighting,’ but MMA’s seeping into the mainstream is continuing largely thanks to the sport’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor.

The Notorious is picking up where Ronda Rousey and George St-Pierre left off by bringing in an abundance of eyes to gaze upon the Octagon. And for those who are still stuck inside on sunny afternoons mashing buttons in a bid to make the pixels on their screen move more favourably for them than the ones on the stranger’s screen they’re playing against on the other side of the world, McGregor’s doing his best to bring them over from the dark side too.

Yesterday, the UFC featherweight champion shared an image of his likeness in the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare game ahead of the trailer set to hit the internet today. To drum up more hype for the game, McGregor uploaded some footage of him brandishing plastic guns and some funny-looking armour while filming for the trailer.

If you like Call of Duty or video games in general, you might like the video embedded below. If you don’t, but enjoy a good scrap, at least appreciate that a mixed martial artist is getting that kind of exposure.

How far this sport’s come.
