Conor McGregor took hardly any time at all to get back to his gym following UFC 202.
After seeing the clips of McGregor hobbling around backstage on crutches after beating Nate Diaz, fans feared the worst.
It turns out the Notorious had a fractured ankle heading into the welterweight do-over. The pre-existing injury was discovered in a post-fight x-ray and McGregor admitted in the press conference that it began hurting him when he struck Diaz’ knee with a leg kick early in the fight. It means McGregor could be sidelined for up to six months pending clearance from an orthopedist.
To summarise, McGregor probably shouldn’t be doing too much activity that requires the use of his feet, particularly training. However, a video has emerged of the featherweight champion in the gym doing some light cardio work just two days after the Diaz fight. You can see in the video embedded below that he was forced to use his crutches again in between sets as that ankle injury was clearly still bothering him.
