GRAPHIC: Josh Emmett with a victorious UFC debut, a smashed finger and a crazy 30 seconds in Rotterdam

Jon Tuck vs. Josh Emmett was, quite simply, an odd fight.

There were stages of insane action, points of annoying timidity and one of the nastiest injuries we’ve seen in some time.

Team Alpha Male’s Josh Emmett had less than a week to prepare for Jon Tuck but the short notice appeared to have done nothing to his harm his confidence as he coasted to a two-round advantage on the prelims of UFC Rotterdam.

Emmett’s aggression on the feet had him in front after ten minutes but, midway through the third round, a wheel kick attempt from Tuck caught the left ring finger of Emmett and caused a horrifying compound fracture that looked like this. GRAPHIC WARNING

After noticing the injury, Emmett understandably stopped throwing his left hand and became frustratingly timid on the feet, literally running away from Tuck as the third round drew to a close.

It all led to a thrilling finale as Tuck let rip with a tidal wave of roundhouse kicks and knees that Emmett struggled to defend but he withstood the punishment and was rewarded with a split decision victory in his first time on the Octagon’s mat.

And for the sickos among you who want to see the aftermath of the finger when Emmett removed his gloves and hand-wraps, here you go.
