Vines: There were three huge upsets on the UFC Krakow card

Cro Cop is back

The underdogs had their day at UFC Fight Night 64.

Mirko Cro Cop made a stunning return to the UFC by brutally finishing Gabriel Gonzaga.

The 40-year-old Croat looked like he was on course for being put to sleep early but was saved by the bell at the end of the first round. Cro Cop also lost the second stanza but changed the course of the fight dramatically in the third.

Cro Cop landed some devastating elbows from inside the clinch at the fence which rocked Gonzaga. He eventually brought the Brazilian down to the mat where he finished the bout with vicious ground and pound.

Filipovic was the +150 underdog on the night because of his extended time away from the UFC’s Octagan and the fact that he was KO’s by Gonzaga with a stunning head kick eight years ago.

Joanne Calderwood suffered a shock first round submission defeat to UFC debutante Maryna Moroz. The Scottish fighter was a heavy -550 favourite to win the bout and was in line to take on Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the strawweight strap.

However, Moroz proved to be no pushover as she caught Calderwood with an armbar, forcing the tap at 1:30 in the first round.

Also, a special mention goes to hometown hero Pawel Pawlak who grinded his way to a unanimous decision victory over -190 favourite Sheldon Westcott.
