VIDEO: When you’re a 7ft tall fighter, spinning kicks to the body need to be perfectly placed

Stefan Struve has a lot of advantages.

He can keep out of range his opponents’ strikes, he has the longest reach in all of the UFC (tied with Jon Jones) and he can bring a knee up the pipe with zero difficulty.

But one downside to The Skyscraper’s 7ft frame is that his training and partners and coaches can often find themselves in unusual situations.

The Dutch heavyweight was hitting pads with his striking coach recently when he decided to throw a spinning back kick to the body.

Unfortunately, Struve misjudged where the solar plexus of his coach ought to be and found his heel connecting with jaw rather than body.

The coach took the shot like a champion, to be fair, but it might be worthwhile for Struve’s trainers to start wearing knight’s armour from now on.
