Blink really quickly and miss it

Fourteen seconds seems like a very long time when you think about it. Sure Usain Bolt could run 100m and a bit in that length of time while it’s probably about the same amount of time it takes for us to devour an entire tub of Nutella in the SportsJOE kitchen if left unattended.

Well there’s a new way to estimate that length of time this morning after Ronda Rousey absolutely destroyed her latest UFC Bantamweight opponent last night in LA.

Cat Zingano was the latest challenger to try her skills against the champion, but Rousey tore into her even quicker than her last title defence when she beat Alexis Davis in 16 seconds.

The 32-year old started in confident fashion and tried to land a flying knee to Rousey but when brought down to the mat,the champion managed to reverse positions. This was big trouble for Zingano as Rousey moved herself into position where a she had a reverse armbar that forced Zingano into tapping out.

The win means Rousey is now on a streak of 11 wins in a row and she’s new the new record holder for  a submission after she smashed the old 16-second barrier set by Frank Shamrock when he armbarred Kevin Jackson at UFC 15.5 in Japan.

Afterwards Zingano was hugely disappointed as she let fly with a number of F-bombs
