The combination of events here, for one fighter, was dreadful.
Joshua Spears got to the end of his APEX Fights event without a tooth and without the likelihood of ever finding said tooth. The Tennessee fighter was caught amid a flurry of punches by opponent Preston The Ice Pick Schick, earlier this month, and needed the referee to step in and save him from further damage. Midway through the first round, Spears caught a heavy right, then had his tooth dislodged by a follow-up left. Schick unleashed another right that not only connected with Spears but sent his tooth flying into the first row. Absolutely brutal.
