It’s not often that Jose Aldo’s name gets brought up in an Oireachtas Petition Committee meeting.
We were warned that the government would actually be discussing the possibility of minting Conor McGregor onto the one euro coin, but we didn’t think they would take it so seriously.
RTE tweeted out a video of the Oireachtas Committee swiftly shooting down the petition because they were unable to get in touch with the petitioner. However, the chair did admit that the case brought up an interesting topic that is a matter for the public interest, how people get their faces on coins… yeah, that discussion actually happened.

McGregor seemed to enjoy seeing the Committee take the petition so seriously and responded by referencing a classic Irish political outburst that went viral.
Well fuck you Deputy Stagg 😂😂😂 https://t.co/w168kOBThK

If you are unaware, the Notorious is quoting Paul Gogarty’s infamous “unparliamentary language” moment aimed at Emmett Stagg.
