Video: CM Punk set to appear at UFC 185, first fight could be announced soon

Well, sort of

Ben Kiely

The former WWE superstar will be at the event this weekend, but not as a fighter… obviously.

Anthony Pettis will be looking to defend his lightweight belt against heavy-hitter Rafael dos Anjos in the main event at UFC 185. Pettis revealed that he will walk out to the cage alongside one of the UFC’s more high-profile recent recruits, CM Punk.

Punk, who swapped the WWE ring for the Octagon in December last year, has yet to have a single professional MMA fight but Pettis dropped a major hint that his first bout under the promotion could be announced very soon.

He’s become a friend, man. I see him on the mat every day. We train together all the time. He’s in the pro class and eh, he’s about to have a huge fight pretty soon and I want him to see how it feels to walk out to one of the biggest fights, you know, main event in Dallas, Texas. It’s going to be crazy. He has to see that.

Maybe Cathal Pendred will get his wish and be the first fighter to hand the wrestler an ass-whoopin’.
