VIDEO: Benson Henderson managed to sneak toothpick into fight despite being checked
Benson Henderson might actually be a magician.
"Smooth" was never really a popular UFC champion when he held the lightweight belt due to his knack for edging out decisions on points.
However, fans seem to have a newfound appreciation for his elite skill set because of his willingness to enter fights at short notice and well, because of his trademark toothpick.
Bendo turned some heads when he was seen with a toothpick in his mouth during his win over Nate Diaz at UFC on Fox 5.
He explained in the post-fight press conference that it was a bit of a bad habit and that he spars with a toothpick in his mouth from time to time. When Dave Sholler was quizzed about the toothpick situation, he seemed convinced that the fighter was kidding.
The toothpick made a return for the Rafael dos Anjos and Brandon Thatch fights, but it seemed like we wouldn't be seeing it during his main event clash against Jorge Masvidal at UFC Seoul. He was thoroughly checked before entering the Octagon and no toothpick was found.
Somehow though, he managed to sneak one in as he clearly spat one out of his mouth after being hit during the fight. Herb Dean was later seen picking it up off the canvas.
