WATCH: US radio host emphatically explains why ‘dumb’ Conor McGregor was never going to beat the UFC

Strong words

Patrick McCarry

Colin Cowherd, the silken voice of reason and corporate governance, lays into Conor McGregor here.

We’ve accepted it at this stage – Conor McGregor will not be fighting at UFC 200.

The featherweight champion took on his bosses in a staring contest and they haven’t blinked yet. Daniel Cormier versus Jon Jones is the new UFC 200 main event.

FOX Radio presenter Colin Cowherd was one of the first men to speak with UFC president Dana White after McGregor alluded to early retirement, last week.

Last night, on The Herd, Cowherd outlined why McGregor was never going to best his bosses. He declared:

“Here’s a rule for a 27-year-old millionaire – don’t take on a 50-year-old billionaire.

“UFC fans think this is Conor versus Dana White. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It’s not.

“It’s Conor taking on the Fertitta family. The single, most powerful family in Nevada.”

Cowherd believes McGregor erred, and erred again, with his now infamous retirement, #YourMove and ‘I’m Back’ tweets.

“A 27-year-old kid has lied publicly, twice. He’s dumb. You don’t do that.

“Millionaires do not get into whizzing contests with billionaires. You’ll lose, every single time.”

McGregor has been relatively quiet on social media in recent days. He has restricted himself to a single retweet but it is surely only a matter of time before he dips his toes again.
