Urijah Faber predicts a Conor McGregor victory at UFC 229
Urijah Faber and Conor McGregor have a storied history after the two fighters coached against one another on season 22 of the Ultimate Fighter.
They repeatedly clashed on the show due to Faber's criticism of the SBG fighters coaching style. Whilst Mystic Mac made claims about The California Kid's stablemate TJ Dillashaw being a 'snake in the grass'.
As well as this McGregor defeated another Team Alpha Male fighter in Chad Mendes to secure the Interim Featherweight title.
Before that fight, there was a backstage altercation between the two following the Crumlin native's weight cut.
By all accounts the two have put previous skirmishes behind them and are now very cordial towards each other.
So much so, that the former rival has now stepped forward and predicted McGregor to finish Khabib in their eagerly anticipated encounter on October 6.
Faber believes that Conor holds a distinct advantage as every round starts on the feet, where McGregor is most dangerous, and Khabib is perceived to be weakest.
“I think odds are in Conor’s favor, because it starts standing every round, and unless Khabib can take him down over and over again, right off the bat, the power’s a little much,” Faber said.
He continued, "I mean, I could be on the fence on this one, because Khabib could take him down a hundred times too. But 'Mystic Mac'... He beat some good guys. Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, those guys don't get knocked out often...Eddie Alvarez... yeah a lot of tough guys."
Strong words from one of the sharpest minds in the game.
Anticipation is building towards UFC 229 when McGregor and Khabib will finally face of to decide who is the true King of the organisation's Lightweight division.
