UFC seriously need to introduce ref cams if this brutal heavyweight knockout is anything to go by

Just like the PRIDE days

PRIDE never dies.

Everyone loves a good ref cam. No matter what your sport of choice is, there’s something so satisfying about seeing the action from the referee’s perspective.

Attaching a Go-Pro to a combat sports official has a lot of benefits.

It gives perspective when it comes to stoppages, both good and bad, but most of all, it just looks bad ass, as fans of PRIDE will remember all too well.

The ref cam was out in force for the WSOF 35 event in New York on Saturday night. It really shone in the heavyweight title fight main event between champion Blagoy Ivanov and former UFC fighter Shawn Jordan.

The champ made it four-straight wins in the promotion with his first round TKO victory over ‘The Savage’ in the Turning Stone Resort Casino.

Roughly a minute into the fight, Ivanov clocked Jordan with a short right hand that sent hims stumbling backwards. With the smell of blood rising in his nostrils, the Bulgarian followed up with a quick combination that sent his opponent to the canvas. From there, he just worked away with his ground and pound until Dan Miragliotta had seen enough and awarded the TKO victory at the 1:43 mark of the opening round.

Here’s a longer look at that ref cam capturing the last moments of the fight. Every promotion, not just the UFC should be seriously considering following WSOF’s lead to bring the ref cam back to MMA.
