‘Ok I’m back’ – Conor McGregor wants to compete for new UFC ‘Legacy’ belt

Jack O'Toole

The UFC will introduce a new Legacy belt this Saturday at UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw in Brooklyn, New York.

Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo will face TJ Dillashaw in the card’s main event with both fighters squaring off for the UFC’s new ‘Legacy’ belt, a redesign of the UFC’s original belt that will see a red stone awarded to a fighter for each successful title defence on the left side plate.

There are eight stones each on the left and right side of the belt and if a champion has more than eight wins the other plate will be used to add additional red stones.

Each Legacy belt will also be custom made and will bare the champion’s name, weight class and the flag of their country will also be emblazoned onto the belt.

The belt also has the Irish flag on it in recognition of Conor McGregor, one of the first eight international champions of the UFC.
