UFC featherweight Dennis Bermudez silently broke a truly bizarre world record

Some way to kill time

Top-ranked UFC featherweight Dennis Bermudez can now call himself a world record holder.

The MMA community was left a bit befuddled this week when Guinness World Records announced on their official website that TUF 14 veteran Dennis Bermudez had smashed one of their records.

The Menace confirmed on Twitter that this was no mistake, fans eyes weren’t deceiving them and that he had actually broken the record for “fastest time to drink one litre of lemon juice through a straw.”

At 22.75 seconds, Bermudez sailed past the previous record of 24 seconds, defeating a slew of competitors also vying for that GWR certificate including professional gamers and Octagon girl Brittney Palmer.

What makes Bermudez’s record all the more impressive though, is that it was his second attempt at it that day. Bermudez finished his first in an incredible 20 seconds, but this effort was disqualified as there was lemon juice left in his bowl. So he did it again. as he revealed to MMA Junkie.

“My stomach is on fire, because there’s a litre of lemon juice in my stomach, and I’m super-full at this point. But they had the (record) there, so I’m like, ‘That’s gotta go home.’”

We last saw Bermudez (15-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) fight at the UFC Fight Night 83 event in February, where he earned a decision win over Tatsuya Kawajiri. He has no fights currently lined up.
