UFC Dublin fighter responds to Dana White saying he’s not popular enough for a title shot

Perfect response

Ben Kiely

Have a look at my scalp collection, Dana.

Number three-ranked heavyweight Stipe Miocic takes on knockout artist Ben Rothwell in the co-main event at the upcoming UFC Dublin event.

However, despite being one of the most elite fighters in the division, he explained to Submission Radio that Dana White refused him a title shot because he wasn’t a needle-mover.

“I’m just not popular enough. That’s what it is. [The UFC brass] go off popularity and what the fans want. Apparently the fans didn’t want to see me fight… I need to get more popular.”

“Yeah, I need to get more popular. I wasn’t popular enough and so it’s pretty much, I gotta get popular.”

Miocic kept fairly tight-lipped on the matter for the last couple of weeks, but decided to respond to the claim that he wasn’t popular in style.

They will all fall one by one. The most important thing is that my fans are with me. Are you with me?

Honestly, who cares if he’s not all that popular? He’s knocked out the granite-chinned Mark Hunt, dispatched of Roy Nelson, defeated Gabriel Gonzaga, scored a TKO victory over Fabio Maldonado and brought former champion Junior dos Santos to the brink in a five-round war that many felt he might have just edged.

Yeah, he’s pretty damn good.
