WATCH: Jeremy Stephens claims Conor McGregor hid backstage after that immaculate burn

Top ranked featherweight Jeremy Stephens appears to be eyeing up a Red Panty Night prize fight against Conor McGregor.

Lil’ Heathen was at the UFC 205 presser in New York on Tuesday night to promote his potential title eliminator bout against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

Unsurprisingly, it was the Conor McGregor show in the Garden as the Notorious dominated proceedings with his unparalleled smacumen (smack talk acumen). One of the few times Stephens got a hold of the mic, he foolishly tried to go toe-to-toe with the Notorious in the trash talk department.

That didn’t work out too well for the power-puncher as McGregor was waiting with a counter which he executed with perfect timing to brutally destroy his adversary.

He kept pretty quiet once McGregor landed that devastating blow, but Stephens claims he tried to confront the Dubliner backstage when the cameras weren’t rolling. He told FoxSports though that the “little leprechaun” wanted absolutely nothing to do with him though.

“I’m not sure what that fire crotch said. I really couldn’t hear at the presser. It really didn’t matter.”

“I went backstage and that little leprechaun wanted no part of it. He locks himself in a room. He talks a big fictional character up, but he didn’t want to back it up. He’s locked in a little room.”

Then Stephens revealed his real intentions, he wants a big payday bout against the brash-mouthed showman. He has the small task of getting past future Hall of Famer Edgar first though.

“Hopefully he’ll step up to the plate and fight a real savage like me. You know I’ll mop the floor with that little ginger crackhead any day. Til then I’ll be fighting Frankie Edgar November 12 at MSG.”
