Things might get messy

They may as well hand out the performance of the night bonuses now.

Joe Lauzon has earned 13 bonuses in his UFC career while his upcoming opponent, Diego Sanchez, has battled his way to seven.

So a barnburner is expected when two of the most exciting lightweights of all time come toe-to-toe for the first time at UFC 200.

Lauzon, a semi-finalist on season five of The Ultimate Fighter, is one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster now and it’s not without reason.

His 96% finishing rate throughout his 12-year fight career has endeared himself to the masses, just like Sanchez.

Sanchez is seldom, if ever, involved in a boring fight and his tendency to bite down on his mouthpiece and swing for the fences has earned himself a special place in the hearts of almost all fight fans.

Sanchez’s war with Gilbert Melendez at UFC 166 is the stuff of legends (check it out above if you’ve not already seen it) and the inaugural TUF champion simply adores a scrap.

Their clash in July may not be an overly technical meeting of minds but it’s destined to be exciting, so much so that Lauzon has advised fans sitting close to the Octagon to bring some protective rain gear along as blood is expected to fly.
