There was a definite theme to the UFC 196 media day.

The sense of 'not another McGregor question' was very palpable among the fighters who took part in the media day ahead of Saturday night's fights. Not one scrum went without a 'what do you make of the main event?' and most fighters responded in pretty unanimous fashion. The short notice element of Diaz accepting the main event of UFC 196 on eleven days' notice prompted fighters on the card such as Gian Villante, Ilir Latifi and Tom Lawlor to plump for the Irishman.
