There are not many fighters out there who would accept a bout on twelve days’ notice.
There are even fewer who would do so 36 hours after fighting, facing a 19 lb weight cut.
But Donald Cerrone is not like most fighters and, according to reports, he’s the favourite to replace the injured Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196.
Cerrone fought at welterweight on Sunday night but he’s being tipped to drop to lightweight to face Conor McGregor on March 5.
‘Cowboy’ was rumoured to be walking around at 174 lbs on Tuesday morning, meaning he’d have to cut 18-19 lbs to meet the lightweight limit.

And top MMA nutritionist Mike Dolce has hinted that the trip back to 155 lbs is already underway.

We have yet to receive any confirmation from the UFC in relation to who will stand in for dos Anjos but, if we were betting men, we’d be plumping for ‘Cowboy’ at this stage.
