Tony Ferguson goes off on Khabib and Conor McGregor in foul mouthed rant

Jack O'Toole

Former UFC interim Lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has said that Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have made an ass out of themselves ahead of their Lightweight title fight at UFC 229 on Saturday.

Ferguson will return to the Octagon for the first time in just under a year when he fights former Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in the co-main event at UFC 229.

The 34-year-old was stripped of his interim Lightweight championship in April due to injury and a win over Pettis would make him the number one contender for the title, however, when asked for a prediction on the McGregor and Nurmagomedov title fight, Ferguson said that he hopes that both fighters knock each other out.

“Double knockout. I hope these bitches knock each other out. They talk enough shit, I hope they deal with what they’ve got to deal with and squash this shit.

“This is a man’s sport and we’re trying to clean this shit up but you’ve got these two knuckleheads going out there and making an ass of themselves.”

Despite the UFC stripping him of his title, Ferguson insists that he is still the Lightweight champion and that he has a big chip on his shoulder heading into his fight with Pettis.

“I’m the fucking champ,” Ferguson said. “See this gold right here. I didn’t lose my belt. They took it from me. The one thing they didn’t take is my smile.”

“So after my surgery, I made a conscious decision to not want anybody else’s help that didn’t want to help me. So yeah, I’ve got a little chip on my shoulder. It’s still there. It fucking weighs a lot. But in this whole entire process, I gained so much more than you guys would ever imagine.”

Ferguson insists that he is the alternate contender for Saturday should Nurmagomedov or McGregor withdraw from the main event with injury.
