Rowdy was one of 67,359 Americans to vote for a comedienne in the 2012 US Presidential elections.
Those of you younger than 30 may not remember the US sitcom Roseanne.
The comedy about a working class family from Illinois ran from 1988 to 1997 and centred around the titular star and her husband [played by John Goodman].
Roseanne Barr seriously took into politics about five years ago and ran as a third party candidate in the 2012 US Presidential election, which was eventually won by Barack Obama [65.9 million votes].
Barr, running with the Peace and Freedom party, eventually finished sixth in the polls after pulling in over 67,000 votes. She did receive a check in the ballot box from Rousey.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion said, “Mostly [in 2012] I went in to vote for all the state and local things.
“I was so unimpressed with the whole presidential campaign that I picked whatever third party I saw, and I saw Roseanne and thought, ‘That’s awesome’.”
This time around, Rousey told Maxim that she is voting for Democrat hopeful Bernie Sanders.
“He doesn’t take any corporate money,” she explained. “I don’t think politicians should be allowed to take money for their campaigns from outside interests.”
If Sanders fails to get the Democrats’ go-ahead, Rousey will vote for a third party candidate again.
With Barr intent on another bid, the fighter’s endorsement may bring in more votes this time out.
