Report: Folks in the WWE reckon Brock Lesnar is on his way back to the UFC

Looks like those rumours might be true after all

Bad news for Bellator though

Ever since CM Punk’s signing, the rumour mill in MMA circles has revolved around another wrestler turned MMA fighter and what his next move would be. Speculation about what next for former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has ranged from a potential move to rival promotion Bellator to signing up for another year with Vince McMahon’s side.

However, it now seems that the WWE are preparing for the 37-year-old to once again leave the squared circle for the Octagon.

Dave Meltzer, a respected reporter in wrestling and MMA circles, has said that his information is that WWE folk are getting ready for Lesnar to leave.

“The Lesnar people always keep things quiet, but within the company, the belief is that he’s going back to UFC, and his showing up lighter to TV last week confirmed that to people who thought it,” Meltzer wrote on Wrestling Observer Newsletter (paywall), alluding to Lesnar’s appearance on Raw on December 15.

Lesnar’s WWE deal runs out after Wrestlemania 31, on March 29 next year, and it is now almost three years to the day since his last UFC appearance, a defeat to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.

The WWE would surely wish to keep another big name out of Dana White’s clutches but the real winner here is Lesnar, who looks to have three companies after his signature.
