No hard feelings

Dubliner Neil Seery was the first of the Irish contingent to take to the Octagon at UFC 189 when he faced Louis Smolka.

Unfortunately for Seery, despite an entertaining battle, he was defeated by a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight 30-27 in favour of the Hawaiian,

There had been some bad blood previously between Seery and Smolka, but despite the disappointment of his defeat, the Irishman showed that he’s a class act by tweeting this picture and message after the fight.

Smolka was asked about the Irish fans inside the MGM Grand and while he was overwhelmingly positive about what they are brining to the party, he did describe the massed green army as ‘belligerent’

“They kind of abused me,” he said.

“It was kind of awesome. They’re belligerent but I’m going to miss them. They made it fun. They made some comments but they’re passionate fans.”
