Paige VanZant has admitted she’d be willing to take a fight while taking part in Dancing with the Stars.
The 21-year-old rising women’s strawweight is taking part on this season of the long-running celebrity dance show, but she isn’t finished with fighting yet.
“12 Gauge” revealed to MMA Junkie that she is still training to fight during filming for Dancing With the Stars, and that she would happily accept another bout, even if she makes it to final stage. However, only if the fight was scheduled sometime after she had finished with her role on the show.
“I definitely would accept a fight. I’m still training while I’m out here. I’d give myself plenty of time to finish the show and then go into a full fight camp. I’m not going to rush myself or put myself in a bad position.”
“But I’m a fighter first, so I’ll be ready to get back in the cage. I fought four times last year, so this is a really good change of pace. I get to slow down and work a lot of technique with my coaches – I’m not going straight into a fight preparing for somebody. I’m really working on who I am as a fighter and breaking everything down.”
We last saw VanZant (6-2, 3-1 UFC) inside the Octagon getting submitted by fellow rising star Rose Namajunas in the fifth round of the main event of UFC Fight Night 80. VanZant was thoroughly outclassed and beaten to a bloody pulp by “Thug”, and admitted after the fight she needed to work on her technique.
