One of the filthiest fighters in MMA history may be about to receive his comeuppance

Guess who's back

Rousimar Palhares has booked himself another fight, only this one’s not an MMA bout. Jiu-Jitsu promotion Polaris confirmed that the former World Series of Fighting welterweight champion has booked a contest against grappling master Garry Tonon for their Polaris 3 event on April 2 in the UK.

Notorious MMA villain was booted out of the UFC for being a repeat offender of failing to release submission attempts after the referee has intervened. He is currently serving a two year suspension handed to him by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for refusing to let go of a kimura on Jake Shields in the WSOF, but the ban does not prevent him from competing in jiu-jitsu bouts across the sea.

Tonon is recognised as an extremely gifted BJJ-practitioner and his specialty is the leglock. He has submitted leglock masters such as Marcin Held and Masakazu Imanari using that weapon. Palhares is widely considered to be one of the best leg-lock submission specialists in MMA, or at least when he was still allowed to compete in MMA.

All in all, this will be one that MMA fans and BJJ fans alike will certainly not want to miss.
