MMA promotion, ONE championship has made a couple of huge statements over the past number of weeks with the signings of Eddie Alvarez and Demetrius Johnson.

“Underground King” Alvarez signed a reported 8-figure contract with the promotion a few weeks back, and if that wasn’t big enough, news broke last week that ONE and the UFC came to an agreement over a history making trade deal that saw long-time flyweight champion “Mighty Mouse” join the organisation.

It’s now being reported that the Asia based promotion are about to secure the service of another high profile UFC fighter.

“Super” Sage Northcutt is currently testing the waters of free agency, having fought out his deal with the UFC. The lightweight prospect is currently riding a three fight win streak after knocking out Zak Ottow in Idaho during the summer, in what could well be his final UFC performance.

Given his marketability and the fact he has won his last three fights, it would be highly unlikely that Dana White does not offer him a new deal. However, there has been a growing trend of fighters jumping ship to rival organisations due to the fact that Bellator and ONE can offer more money.

For now, Northcutt is testing out the free agency market, and it looks as though ONE are about to make their move on the popular clean-cut fighter.

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced via Facebook that several fighters, including Northcutt, will be in attendance for Friday’s “ONE: Heart of the Lion” event:

“I am happy to announce that Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, Angela Lee, Renzo Gracie, Martin Nguyen, Aung La Nsang, Rich Franklin, Sage Northcutt, and many other superstars will be in attendance to witness ONE: Heart Of The Lion on November 9 in Singapore! LET’S GOOOOO!!! #gratitude”.

Northcutt’s next move will be very interesting. He is very young in his career so don’t be surprised if he leaves the UFC now only to return at a later date.
