Flights booked for UFC 189? Well your weekend has just gotten a whole lot more exciting.
Not only will you get to see Conor McGregor attempt to bring featherweight gold back to Ireland when he takes on long time champion Jose Aldo at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 11 but you'll also get the chance to watch Catherine Costigan's Invicta debut as the all-female promotion has further piqued the Irish interest towards international fight week.
Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp confirmed the news to TalkingBrawlsMMA.com, saying: “We’re working on finding the right opponent, but Catherine Costigan will fight on that July card, It makes perfect sense for Catherine to be on that card during international fight week. You can expect to see her there.”
Limerick's own Costigan is undefeated in her professional career, with four of the 35-year-old's five wins coming by way of submission.
For those of you unfortunate enough to fail to get tickets to UFC 189 or Invita FC 13, the latter event will be streamed exclusively on UFC Fight Pass so you can watch Costigan's promotional debut from the comfort of home.
Stay tuned to SportsJOE this weekend when we speak to Costigan about the fantastic news, her plans for the future and much more.
