Nate Diaz prediction for McGregor-Mayweather shows the total respect he has for his old rival

Game respect game

“Fair play. You’re a warrior. You’re a f***ing warrior!”

Conor McGregor knew the score after his second UFC war with Nate Diaz.

Diaz knew likewise. The Stockton native was dropped on three occasions by McGregor punches but somehow lasted until the end of their UFC 202 bout.

Diaz is keen for that trilogy fight with McGregor [they are tied at 1-1] but there appears to be a greater likelihood of the Dubliner taking on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing ring before the year is out.

Satisfied at waiting his turn as his pay-per-view stock grows, Diaz spoke with boxer Andre Ward on CSN Fights about how Mayweather-McGregor might play out. Interestingly, he feel’s McGregor has a decent chance at upsetting the 49-0 Mayweather. He said:

“I think it is a publicity stunt but McGregor, when it comes to boxing, is good.

“He’s got a good chance to make something happen in two or three rounds. If anything, he has two or three good rounds.

“He’s got an amateur style; he’s got good movement and good punches for six or eight minutes… He’s got a puncher’s chance, if anything.”

Going up against the best boxer of his generation, that’s not a bad prediction for McGregor.
