Massive heavyweight clash targeted for UFC Dublin could make the card a classic

This is huge

Dublin has never seen the big boys go at it in the octagon.

In the UFC’s last two trips to the Ireland capital, the heavyweights have never been part of the action but that looks like it could be about to change.

According to MMAJunkie, the UFC are targeting a heavyweight clash between top contenders Stipe Miocic and Ben Rothwell for the October 24 event.

Number 3 ranked Miocic could be handed a shot at Fabricio Werdum’s belt if he can get past the always entertaining Ben Rothwell who could crack the top five for the first time with a win.

UFC Fight Night 76 will be headlined by a lightweight tilt between Donegal’s Joseph Duffy and perennial top contender Dustin Poirier.

While many were expecting Gunnar Nelson to feature in the co-main event, Miocic v Rothwell is more than worthy of that position on any fight card so would work well if Gunni fails to find an opponent.

The confirmed card for UFC Dublin looks like this thus far.

Joseph Duffy vs Dustin Poirier
Norman Parke vs Reza Madadi
Cathal Pendred vs Tom Breese
Scott Askham vs Krzysztof Jotko
Bubba Bush vs Garreth McLellan
Paddy Holohan vs Louis Smolka
