The UFC lightweight champion claims the Diaz brothers hid behind security

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz have different views on what went down on August 1, 2015.

The UFC lightweights clashed at a World Series of Fighting event at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino four years ago, with teammates of both fighters squaring up before security intervened.

Diaz was in attendance to support long-time teammate Jake Shields when he became embroiled in the melee with Nurmagomedov’s camp, who was there for Khabib’s cousin, Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

The brawl is making headlines again this week due to a social media exchange between Diaz and the reigning UFC 155lbs champion.

After Nurmagomedov told rival Conor McGregor that he would have to live with the shame of tapping out to a neck crank in the main event of UFC 229, Diaz got in touch to say that ‘The Eagle’ would have to live with the shame of letting himself be slapped without retaliating.

Nurmagomedov sees the melee differently, however, and claimed that the Diaz brothers wanted nothing to do with the Russians.

Diaz insists that Nurmagomedov’s video is not representative of what actually went down but the undefeated Dagestani had yet another clip to share, although it must be said that it is very difficult to make out what is happening and who is involved.
