Duffy vs. Clarke has a nice ring to it.

Irish fans heading to Las Vegas for the week of UFC 200 have a local hero to cheer on. Conor McGregor is not fighting in July but Joseph Duffy’s lightweight clash with Mitch Clarke is not bad going.

Duffy’s star was on the rise until Dustin Poirier doled out a beating at UFC 195, back in January.

‘Irish Joe’ had won his first two UFC fights to take his career record to 14-1 before ‘The Diamond’ dominated him.

Duffy vowed to take six months off to work on his game and has kept true to his word. He returns for the UFC Fight Night event on July 7.

The fight will be on the undercard on an event headlined by the lightweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez.

Clarke [11-3] has been with the UFC since 2011. The Canadian beat Al Iaquinta and John Maguire after a losing start with the promotion but lost his last outing, way back in April 2015, to Michael Chiesa.
