Aldo's last fight was a 25-minute war against Chad Mendes, which he won on the judges' scorecards. McGregor defeated Mendes in his last trip to the Octagon to claim the interim belt, but he finished the American wrestler a lot quicker, knocking him out at the end of the second round.
Despite his plans on for a quick win, Aldo admitted he would be willing to go the distance with the Notorious.
"It doesn’t matter if I’m going in there and finishing his quickly, if I’m punching him once and he goes down. The important is that I’ll come out victorious, it doesn’t matter what I’m going to do in there."
Aldo gave an update on his training, which was hindered by the rib injury that forced him out of their scheduled fight at UFC 189.
"We still have four months, so we’re slowly starting (my camp). When we’re nine weeks away (from the fight), we’ll work harder and more focused on the fight. For now, be cool, I’m slowly coming back to training."
