Let's book this

Jose Aldo is fit, back training and looking to strip Conor McGregor of his interim belt.

The UFC featherweight champion, who pulled out of his bout with McGregor on July 11, said during Thursday’s Q&A session in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that he has returned to training at Nova Uniao.

“My rib is fine, I returned to training now. I’m just waiting for them to book the fight so we can fight on the same night as Werdum. I hope we’re there together.”

Chad Mendes replaced Aldo at UFC 189 and lost to “The Notorious” after being sent to the canvas with that patented left straight at the end of the second round. The TKO saw McGregor become the interim featherweight champion, but Aldo was not impressed with the Dubliner’s performance.

“It was exactly what we already expected. If you book this fight today, we’ll beat him. The strategy was already set. We trained for him once and we saw that our strategy would work with his fight against Mendes. We have the most logical way to win and we try to improve every time more.”

A date and venue has yet to be booked for the inevitable title unification bout, but t is thought that the UFC are trying to line it up for either December or January.
