So, Chael Sonnen was telling the truth.

The former UFC fighter revealed on his podcast that Jose Aldo’s team threatened to sue him for his comments over the rib injury that forced him out of his UFC 189 fight with Conor McGregor.

Sonnen recounted a story on You’re Welcome of Aldo’s lawyer calling him to say that he was considering suing him and the UFC for defamation.

The undisputed UFC featherweight champion spoke with the media at UFC 190 and denied that his team had any intention of suing the UFC. However, he sang a different tune when it came to Sonnen’s story.

“We had nothing with the UFC, but with (Sonnen’s) statements. It wasn’t me, my team felt offended by the things he said about the team, especially ‘Dede’ (Pederneiras). We were upset.”

Aldo hinted that his team won’t be engaging in a legal war, and that he is no longer upset with Sonnen for his comments.

“He was always a talker. You can’t write the things he says. They were upset, but I was cool about it. I didn’t care much about it.”
