Jose Aldo believes Conor McGregor jumped the queue to title shot

"Everyone knows I'm the real champ"

Jose Aldo doesn’t care for Conor McGregor’s predictions, in his mind, the main event of UFC 194 only has one possible outcome.

The first and only UFC featherweight champion talked down the loquacious Irishman’s achievements in a recent interview with Fox Sports. He explained that although McGregor currently holds a UFC belt, he won’t be come December 12.

“First off, everybody knows that I am the champion. He’s just interim, he just walks around with a belt but everybody knows that I’m the real champion. I don’t worry about what he does but I’m going to go in there and when I win, then everything will go back to normal.”

“I’ll be the champion, and the only champion.”

While McGregor is the number one-ranked featherweight contender as the interim champion, Aldo doesn’t think his what he’s done inside the Octagon warrants such a high spot in the rankings.

Aldo reckons that McGregor was granted a title shot based on his trash talk acumen and his ability to promote himself, rather than what he actually achieved in the UFC.

“I believe he got to where he is just by talking. I believe he’s behind Chad (Mendes) and Frankie (Edgar). He got here by marketing himself. I’ve always believed he’ll be at the end of the line behind me, behind Frankie, and behind Chad.”

The 145 lb king added that he isn’t intimidated by McGregor’s uber-confident prediction that he will dethrone him via knockout. Aldo hinted that the Notorious might not have the power to render him unconscious before reiterating that he believes he will successfully defend his belt at UFC 194.

“I don’t care about his predictions or anything he says. I know how the fight will end. I know how it’s going to go down.”

“Many people that fought him said that he’s not that strong, he doesn’t punch hard, so I don’t worry about how he thinks the fight is going to go, I know how the fight is going to go on my side. That’s for you guys to see at the fight.”
