Out of action

To look at Joe Duffy, you’d imagine he’d be out of action for some time after his UFC 195 defeat to Dustin Poirier.

But, in fact, it’s Poirier who received the lengthier suspension after having his nose badly broken by the Donegal lightweight in the Fight Pass prelims on Saturday night.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission have suspended Duffy from competition until February 2, with no contact in training until mid-January due to the cuts sustained in his loss.

Poirier, meanwhile, is provisionally suspended until July 2 or until he has his nose cleared by a doctor and is barred from contact in training for a month.

Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit, who put on one of the most brutal title fights in recent memory, are both suspended from competition until March 3 with no contact in training until mid-February.
