The UFC Hall of Fame will induct a new set of members on the day after UFC 200.

The promotion announced that an event will be held as part of the UFC Fan Expo at the Las Vegas Convention centre. It will take place from noon [local time] on July 10.

The Hall of Fame has four different categories that will see fighters, or major contributors [ie: coaches, promoters] included. They are – Pioneer Era, Modern Era [post November 2000], Contributors Wing and Fight Wing.

Current Hall of Fame fighters include  Ken Shamrock, Stephan Bonnar, Mark Coleman, Randy Couture, Royce Gracie, Forrest Griffin, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Pat Miletich, Tito Ortiz, B.J. Penn, Bas Rutten, and Dan Severn.

With Penn due back for UFC 199, he will be an active Hall of Famer.

Other fighters currently active and up for ‘Modern Era’ inclusion this year are:

Fedor Emelianenko, Wanderlei Silva, Rampage Jackson, Urijah Faber, Frank Mir, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, Rashad Evans, Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.

Last year, Frank Trigg’s second bout with Matt Hughes [April 2005] was inducted into the Fight Wing. It is expected that up to three fights could make the cut this time around.

There is no current, physical Hall of Fame but the promotion hopes that will change in the coming years, once more members, fights and contributors have been inducted. The likely home for such a place would be Las Vegas.
