Gruesome armbar submission at UFC 204 followed swiftly by disgusting description of arm breaking

That was a tough, tough watch

If you’re in any way squeamish, you definitely won’t want to see Damian Stasiak’s vicious submission of Davey Grant in Manchester.

Britain’s Grant had a tough night on home soil as he dropped a third round submission loss to the Polish powerhouse who forced the tap with a nasty armbar in the third frame.

The first round was pretty even with both fighters showcasing their grappling prowess and scoring takedowns, but Stasiak’s ability to reverse meant that the Brit couldn’t stay in the dominant top position for too long.

Grant had a better showing in the second, finding his range on the feet and putting together some slick combinations that looked like they hurt Stasiak. However, a late takedown from Stasiak stemming from a poorly-executed leg kick proved to be a bad omen for Grant.

Stasiak finally got the finish in at 3:56 mark in the third round, grabbing hold of the arm after taking top position from another takedown. Grant fought hard against the submission, holding out where others may have tapped a lot sooner. He eventually tapped, but as Stasiak explained in his post-fight interview, the damage may have already been done at that stage.

“I feel when his arm was broke. I hear it crush, crush. I crush.”

The result sees Stasiak ride a two-fight win-streak in the UFC, after dropping his promotional debut to Yaotzin Meza in 2015. The loss means that Grant is now 1-2 in the UFC and 10-3 overall. Interestingly, all three of Grant’s losses have come by way of submission.
