Government to discuss possibility of putting Conor McGregor on the €1 coin

Politicians are genuinely going to debate potentially putting Conor McGregor on the €1 coin following a submission to the Oireachtas Petitions Committee. The Petitions Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss a plethora of petitioner’s requests one of which is to put the Irish UFC superstar on the coin. This means that there is a legitimate threat that the word euro will be slowly phased out and soon Irish legal tender will be measured in "McGregors". For example, if you go into a shop looking to buy a newspaper (remember those?), the man behind the counter might tell you "That'll be two McGregors, please!"
