And the award for most unbelievable news story of the day week eh, ever goes to…
Politicians are genuinely going to debate potentially putting Conor McGregor on the €1 coin following a submission to the Oireachtas Petitions Committee.
The Petitions Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss a plethora of petitioner’s requests one of which is to put the Irish UFC superstar on the coin.
This means that there is a legitimate threat that the word euro will be slowly phased out and soon Irish legal tender will be measured in “McGregors”.
For example, if you go into a shop looking to buy a newspaper (remember those?), the man behind the counter might tell you “That’ll be two McGregors, please!”
The man himself has since responded to the news on Twitter, explaining that he would be honoured to feature on legal tender.
