Frankie Edgar has ambitious plans for AFTER he beats Conor McGregor

Eyeing history

Everyone’s gotta dream.

It is a good thing he is resting up now as Frankie Edgar has set himself a hell of an end to 2016.

‘The Answer’ is currently resting his KO-inducing fists until Conor McGregor comes through his UFC 197 title bout with lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

McGregor still holds the featherweight belt but has been allowed, by the promotion, to step up a division in chase of further glory.

Edgar, who is a former lightweight champ, has already admitted to being ‘pissed off’ with the fact that he may have to wait unto July’s UFC 200 to take a run at McGregor. However, he does not plan to stick around at featherweight too long himself.

Mark Henry, Edgar’s coach, told The MMA Hour that his man is already eyeing a fight against newly crowned bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Henry said, “My personal gameplan [as coach] is to wait until March. I’d love the 145lb title and the 135lb right after. That’s me.” Asked if Edgar would defend the featherweight strap after beating McGregor, Henry replied:

“No. Get the three belts. He’d be the first person ever. I think if you won all three, you would have to be the best fighter on the face of the planet ever.

“Still, it’s a massive undertaking. Dominick is phenomenal; incredible.”

Henry states that he has a 100% belief that Edgar is one of the only fighters capable of winning 135, 145 and 155lb divisions.

If any man can, Frankie can.
