Former UFC champion Shogun Rua’s porn analogy for keyboard warriors is actually on point

Shogun Rua has a pretty x-rated way of explaining his feelings towards internet trolls.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion has received his fair share of criticism from social media users of late, due to his poor form inside the Octagon.

Shogun hasn’t been able to string two wins in a row together since 2009 and his recent knockout losses to Ovince Saint Preux and Dan Henderson have got fans doubting whether the Pride legend belongs in the modern game.

Shogun revealed to Combate that he no longer pays much attention to the keyboard warriors, explaining that the vast majority are far from experts in the field of fighting. He wheeled out a very unusual analogy to hammer this point home.

“It’s the price you pay when the sport starts to grow. There’s more criticism, more people bugging you. I’m going to give you a pornographic example. I don’t want to generalize, because only a few fans do that.”

“Some people feel good when they go on the internet to criticize. They are like a virgin guy who watches porn all his life and thinks he knows everything about boning, but never had sex. It’s the same thing.”

He added that the criticism he’s receiving could be something to do with a quirk which applies to a small number of Brazilian sporting fans in particular. He closed off his piece with some delightful repetition, just to ensure that no one missed his unmissable metaphor.

“Most fans support me. When someone is your fan, they like you as a person and an athlete. Brazilian are fans of results, though. This example goes to that small amount of fans.  The virgin who thinks he knows how to bone.  They are keyboard warriors.”
