Fan favourite Joe Lauzon claims that Conor McGregor will beat Jose Aldo but not Frankie Edgar

J-Lau breaking it down

Who doesn’t love themselves a little bit of Joe Lauzon?

The UFC lightweight is up there with the Donald Cerrones of the world in terms of popularity among fight fans and it’s not difficult to see why as he holds the record for most performance bonuses in UFC history.

Lauzon cemented himself in the hearts of fans in his last victory when he decided that opponent Takanori Gomi had had enough and called a stop to the fight without a need for referee intervention.

So he was a busy man when he opened himself up to a Snapchat Q&A this afternoon and he revealed his very considered opinion on the state of the UFC featherweight division.

“After Conor’s last fight, I think he beats Aldo but I think Frankie gives him a really, really tough time. And I think Frankie Edgar beats Conor. But I think Conor beats Aldo… if that makes sense.”

Lauzon is set to fight the night before McGregor’s title unification bout against Aldo when he takes on Evan Dunham at the TUF 22 Finale and J-Lau has revealed that he regrets some of the negative comments he made about The Notorious in the past.

“I do like McGregor,” he said. “I love McGregor and I feel bad because I kind of talked trash about him in one of the fights. He was fighting someone and I thought that he went to go fake-touch gloves and then he threw a spinning back-kick really fast. And I thought it was kind of a cheap shot.

“And I was like, ‘Ah, what a scumbag’. Then tonnes of people messaged me right of way [saying] the other guy shook off the hand-touch and it was just McGregor finding his range. So I felt like a real dick.

“I am a big McGregor fan regardless but I always feel like a jerk so I think I root for him extra hard, because I don’t like to judge people, and I kind of did. I fucked up.”
