Eddie Alvarez played an absolute blinder with heavy bet on Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather

There was a lot of money being wagered over the Money Fight and Eddie Alvarez got in on the action.

Think about all the fight personalities who got lucky with the bets they placed on Conor McGregor’s professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor’s ability to hang with arguably the greatest defensive boxer ever for nearly 10 rounds, and the fact that he was able to nick a couple of stanzas saved a lot of people’s wallets and dignity. In two separate bets, Brendan Schaub saved himself a wad of cash and was spared having to show the world his penis.

Former UFC lightweight champion and McGregor foe Eddie Alvarez must have been counting his blessings after his bet came through just in time.

Although he didn’t put a figure on it, Alvarez told WMMR that he placed a sizeable bet on the diamond-encrusted panty night. He giggled with glee explaining how everything just fell into place for him.

“I put a pretty heavy bet in myself (laughs) that I wanted to get involved in.”

“I bet the under. I told you guys (that) I think he has three rounds to do it. If not, I think it’s going to happen around (round) eight TKO and he lasted longer than I thought. I think the under was nine-and-a-half rounds, so I had 25 more seconds and I would have lost. So, he literally got him out of there just in time.”

To Alvarez’s credit, his bet came from a knowledgeable place. He predicted early success for McGregor, but if it went past the first few rounds, Mayweather would put him away.

He pretty much nailed it.
