Demian Maia and Gunnar Nelson’s post-UFC 194 agreement proves they’re two of sport’s coolest cats

No egos here

In victory be humble, in defeat be strong, in all things be fair.

Despite being arguably the greatest Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner on the continent of Europe, Gunnar Nelson was completely outclassed by Demian Maia at UFC 194, with the judges scoring the bout 30-26, 30-25, 30-25 in favour of the Brazilian.

Gunni is a great BJJ practitoner, but Maia is simply a master.

After his dominant win, Maia approached Gunnar Nelson’s coach and manager and told them he was a big fan of the honorary Irishman and that he would like to train with him at his Mjolnir gym in Reykjavík, reports Icelandic publication Visir.

Gunnar has made it no secret that he was also a massive fan of Maia’s, who apparently has also invited Gunni to train with him in his gym at Brasa Clube de Jiu Jitsu in Sao Paolo.
